We get it, we’ve been to enough (and thrown enough) kids parties to know that sometimes they can feel like another dime-a-dozen weekend obligation for the adults in attendance. When, in fact, the grown-ups should too be rewarded and celebrated, for the hard work of parenting. This is why we’ve put together some ideas for you on how to throw a party the grown-ups can enjoy
Have a dedicated adult area
Often we see parents at kids parties awkwardly lingering around, or grouping towards corners, not really knowing where to hang about. Creating a dedicated seating area with some food and drink will give the parents a space to mingle.
Provide adult food
Most parents already eat more chicken fingers and pizza slices than they’d like. You don’t need to be extravagant, a simple grazing board of some cheese and dips would suffice. The bonus is that you can set it up in the dedicated adult area and let everyone help themselves.
Don’t forget the drinks
Give the adults something other than a juicebox to quench their thirst. Beer and wine are the simple go-to, but remember to keep the supply limited, it is a kid’s party after all. If you would rather keep it a booze-free affair, offer something like cucumber and mint infused water or a blood orange lemonade.
Create an all-ages playlist
Background music is necessary for any party, but try to steer clear of the Disney soundtracks, the grown-ups would most likely twitch at the sound of them. Instead, choose music that everyone can groove to. If you want an easy cheat, search for Family Road Trip on Apple Music or Spotify and let it do it’s thing.
Let them leave
If you really want to make your party a hit with the grown-ups, let them drop their kids off and get out of there quick-smart. This is only recommended with kids over the age of 6!
